Helen is our CEO, tireless in her pursuit of equality and is the driving force behind Space Youth Project. She sources our funding, manages our resources and most importantly she inspires us.

Helen originally got involved with Space as a volunteer fundraiser but has since joined us as an Operations Manager.

Jane is our Youth Worker in Charge for Dorchester and Weymouth. She believes young people should have a safe place where they can explore their sexuality and identity.

Eli has previously worked for Space and been a Trustee. He has personally benefited from Space's service and been inspired to continue working with the LGBT+ community.

Mel is our training and education volunteer. She delivers training for teachers on inclusive schools and age-appropriate workshops for young people on diverse families, gender and sexuality.

Max volunteers weekly in the Space office, he started off as a member before joining the team.

Having started from NCS's UKYoS program, Sunny is keen to use her skills on our social media platforms to raise awareness of Space to the LGBT+ young people in Dorset.

Abi is our wonderful Social Media assistant, she volunteers her time to make sure all our online accounts stay updated and that our organisation can run smoothly in the online world.

Dylan originally joined Space as a young person but has since taken up a volunteer tole with us.

"I am passionate about supporting young people to explore their emotions as a path towards freedom of expression, by offering a space that is accepting, validating and non-judgemental, so that they can connect with their true self and live authentically".

Kathleen is passionate about LGBTQ+ rights and doing everything she can to make the world a safer and more accepting place. She started volunteering with the team to help spread awareness of the amazing support that Space provides for young people across Dorset.

I’m Jodie, a Volunteer who is passionate about supporting young LGBTQ+ people in all aspects of life but especially their mental wellbeing. Having come up through the service I’m well aware of the struggles our young people face and I hope that I can have an impact in making their lives a little bit brighter.

I wanted to volunteer at Space Youth Project because it offers an environment that is accepting, welcoming and supportive. A place where young people can be themselves with no judgement.

Ruth volunteers with the Christchurch group to help give young people a safe space to be themselves and meet like minded individuals'.

Zara volunteers at Space Bournemouth, she is passionate for LGBTQI+ rights and has experience as a youth and adult volunteer in previous organisations, she really helps young people pursue happy and fulfilling lives.

Alex is our Volunteer Bookkeeper.

"I'm volunteering with the Space Youth Project in order to support young LGBT+ people. I am aware of the challenges of growing up as a queer young person, acceptance and mental health struggles. The safe space created by this charity is such a fundamental support system that I wanted to be involved in any way I could."

Amelia is a writer who previously worked in education and wants to use those skills and training to help give young people a safe and fun space where they can be themselves

"My name is Debra-Anne Clark but prefer to be called Debs, my pronouns are she/her. I am 59 years old, transgender MtF. I want to support the LGBTQIA+ youth to be themselves and not have to hide like I did growing up. "

Ben has attended SYP groups and now taken up the role of Volunteer Group Assistant.
