This month marks national volunteers week (2nd – 8th June 2025), celebrating and
recognising the contribution of volunteers across the country.
(From the national Volunteers Week initiative) “Launched in 1984, this initiative has been
running for over 40 years, providing organisations and communities a platform to thank
current and past volunteers for their invaluable efforts.”
At Space Youth Project, our volunteers play a really important role in supporting LGBTQ+
young people. Through assisting in running youth groups, mentoring, admin support and
working within events, as an organisation we would not be able to run without them.
Volunteering plays a vital role in communities across the UK, with millions of people
generously giving their time and skills every year in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern
Ireland. These powerful numbers reflect not only the amazing impact volunteers have, but
also the huge potential for even more people to get involved and make a difference.
This volunteers week, we thank our volunteers for all the work they do for Space Youth
Project as an organisation.

For information about those volunteering with Space Youth Project, see the ‘Meet the SYP
Team’ section under ‘About Us’.
