Bisexual Awareness Week!!

Bisexual Awareness Week is celebrated on the week of the 16th to the 23rd of September. It is important to show the unique experiences and challenges bisexual people face.

Bisexuality is often misunderstood. It is the attraction to two or more genders, but stereotypes lead to a lack of awareness about the bisexual community. Many people still associate bisexuality with confusion or indecision, that is why this week aims to challenge and celebrate the diversity within this community.

The Importance of Visibility

Visibility is powerful for removing stigma. Bisexual people are often subject to being overlooked by both heterosexual people and other people within the LGBTQIA+ community. This lack of representation can lead to isolation and that is why it is important for everyone to make sure this is a time where they can share their voice, be seen, and celebrated.

Community and Support

This week highlights the importance of community and support. Many people face unique challenges such as discrimination, mental health problems, and difficulties in relationships. It is important to create inclusive spaces where bisexual people can share their experiences and support each other. Organisations, like Space Youth Project, play a significant role in this and everyone should participate in local events and discussions.
