Bisexual awareness weak!

This week at Space Youth Project, and around the world, we are celebrating Bisexual Awareness Week, which is usually celebrated 16th September to the 23rd of September, so why should we celebrate Bisexual Awareness Week and when did it first come into place? It was co-founded by GLAAD and BiNet in 2014 to educate individuals that Bisexuals faced challenges within the community, as well as to spread acceptance and set policies.
What is Bisexuality and why is it important to spread awareness?
Bisexuality is a romantic/sexual orientation for more than one gender. But wait, what’s the difference between bisexual and pansexual? Well, being Bisexual means that you are only attracted to more than one gender whereas being pansexual means being attracted to anyone regardless of their gender and more personalities. Bisexual awareness week is important because it’s an opportunity for people inside and outside of the community to educate themselves on the history and definitions of bisexuality. Another reason why it is important is because there are a lot of misunderstandings, ignorance, or people being treated differently. Some people wrongly believe that being bisexual is “just a phase,” or that they’re confused when being bisexual can be different for anyone. A person’s attraction does not have to be equal, and their sexuality is always valid.
Happy Bisexual Awareness Week!
