BBC Solent Make a Difference award Nomiantion!

Helen W & Helen nominated Charlee our wonderful trustee for the BBC Radio Solent Make a Difference award and she has been selected as a finalist! Chalree did a radio interview on 17/08 where she heard what Helen W and Helen D thought of her

Charlee was one of the young people who first thought of and set up Space Youth Project (SYP) in Bournemouth for young LGBT+ people 25 years ago.  She helped raise money to get it started and keep it going. 

Charlee was, and still is a great role model for our young people. She helped support them with their mental health, learning life skills that helped them in education and employment, but most of all she was someone the young people could confide in and know they were safe  

After taking some time away she came back as a trustee in 2020. Her wonderful happy demeanour, useful skill set and amazing passion for supporting SYP, is infectious and inspiring.   If we are short of team members to run a group, she will step in.  If we have a challenging HR issues she is there.  If we need help with a funding bid she is on it! 

She is a massive support to our operations manager, assisted with a very difficult HR issue, she has provided supervision and been a sounding board when needed. Our operations manager is very grateful and this is why she along with myself nominated Charlee

We really really appreciate her and everything she does for SYP, the team and young people, we would be a little lost without her.  THANK YOU Charlee you are amazing!

 Charlee, along with the Helens will be attending the awards ceremony on 22/09, so all keep you fingers crossed for her!
