A fun day at the National Trust property, starting with a woodland walk, visiting the play area, wandering through a bamboo forest and into a Japanese garden to see the Japanese maples in full Autumn foliage, followed by a visit to the Café area to eat our lunch.

At 1 pm we met Emma who was our tour guide around the house, a very instructional tour viewing treasures that had been collected by William John Bankes, revelling in the sights of opulent splendour throughout the house which drew cries of envy from several of the young people.

We then went to the Kitchen garden for coffee, ice creams and a debate on WJB. titled Hero or Zero?

We had hired a Mini Bus from Weymouth College with Driver, Paul, who stayed with us throughout our visit enjoying interacting with us all, he said he thoroughly enjoyed leaning more about LGBT issues.

A very good day out lots of fun and good laughs were had with over 5 miles walked helping fitness.

At Bournemouth group last week, some of our young people carved pumpkins in teams of 3, as you can see we have some budding young artists among our Bournemouth group! Great fun & a lot of mess was had by the young people. The pumpkins were then put to a vote!... ”

The rest of Bournemouth group, who had been either baking, playing cards or making badges, voted for the far left pumpkin! A wonderful carving of Freddy Fazbear! (we hope thats right!)

Recently, myself and six other members of Space Youth Project attended an ASDAN (Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network) training course done by Dorset Youth Association. This course allowed us to become young leaders to support Space and learn new skills. After the 2-day course we will complete 60 hours of volunteering and I feel this is a wonderful opportunity to give back to Space and to develop my abilities.

Throughout the course we learnt different icebreakers, various activities, rules around safeguarding and about different leadership styles. At the end of day two we all left feeling a sense of achievement and with new friendships. I would like to thank Lilly from Dorset Youth Association for providing this experience and allowing us to learn something new whilst having fun.
