BBC Children in Need has funded Space Youth Project for the past few years in order to provide regular support for LGBT+ young people.

National Lottery Funding will be funding Space Youth Project's core costs for 5 years, starting in 2020.

Dorset County Council helps fund Space Youth Project's work in the more rural areas of Dorset.

LGBT+ Futures helps fund a participation worker for Space Youth Project, dedicated to ensure young people are at the heart of our work.

Active Dorset's funding always Space Youth Project to work with our young people and help them get more involved in physical activity.

Our History

Space Youth Project has evolved a lot since our 2001 start. To find out more about how we've grown and expanded, check out the slideshow below.

Between 2001 and 2002, Space Youth Project was founded. In the beginning, two groups of young people questioning their sexuality, independently approached youth support agencies asking for help in coming to terms with living in a sexually polarised society.
